The Effect of Asiaticoside and Madecassoside on LPS- Induced Febrile Response in Rats
Abstract:ObjectiveTo observe whether asiaticoside(AS) or madecassoside (MD) can reduce the fever induced by LPS, and compare the difference of the hypothermia effect between AS and MD. Methods80 rats were randomly divided into AS 5,15, 45 mg/kg, MD10,20, 40 mg/kg,positive control group,model group, normal group and vehicle group, intraperitoneal LPS(100 μg/kg) induced fever in rats.The mean curves of change rate of colonic temperature induced by LPS were observed and the febrile response in various groups were compared.ResultsThe febrile responses are markedly triphasic or biphasic temperature curve in SD rats model group.Both MD and AS induced the fever significantly(P<0.05).ConclusionMD and AS have the effect of hypothermia in SD rats fever model which induced by LPS and AS are surpass to MD in few time point.
