An Experimental Study on the Antibacterial Activity of the Tannin and Flavonoid in Punica granatum L.
Abstract:ObjectiveTo discuss the antibacterial activity of the tannin and flavonoid in Punica granatum L..Methods The tannin and flavonoid from Punica granatum L. were prepared, and subject to bacteriostatic tests in vitro by test tube continuously in order to observe their minimal in hibitory concentration (MIC) to Staphylococcus aureus, Shigellaf, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans.ResultsThe tannin had antimicrobial activity against the six kinds of bacteria in different degrees, but the flavonoid had little antibacteria effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida dlbicans. Conclusion The tannin has broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and has antimicrobial effect to drug resistance bacteria.
